Great Game, We Love It But It Could Have More Possiblities
My daughter is in Kindergarten and we have had lots of fun with this game. Sometimes I think everything is in the timing... and with this game the timing was just right. We recently got this as a gift and my daughter and I have played it several times. We make up our own rules...and she loved it. We don't play competitively, we just work at making words.

I pull out several cards that will make a word then she makes the words, sounds them out and decides which word she likes better. For her the fun was making the words, not "winning".

She's not a game kid, we have lots of the classic games that we gave her as gifts and her three year old brother has played them more than she has. But this one we've come back to again and again, today she said "Wahoo gnu".

The only criticism I have is that they could have created a lot more word possibilities with the word cards.

Gnu game "gnu" reading help!
This is a great game for new readers and for readers who need some extra help and practice. As a retired teacher and now a tutor, I'm using this with a second grader who is having trouble with reading. She really enjoys this game and is getting much better at spelling short words, as well as recognizing longer words because of the skills she is learning with this game. I'd recommend this to anyone with a young reader! P.S. It can also be used with older readers just as a fun game by having a time limit to make a certain amount of words. By C. Mattel's game of Uno has been a fun and entertaining card game for many years. The basic rules for playing Uno are as follows:

1. The deck consists of four suits (red, green, blue and yellow). Each suit contains several sets of cards numbered "0" through "9", as well as the cards "Skip", "Reverse" and "Draw Two".

2. In addition to the cards of the four suits, there are two sets of wild cards: regular "Wild" cards and the dreaded "Wild Draw Four" cards.

3. To begin play, each player begins with a score of zero. The dealer deals each player seven cards and places the remaining cards face down in the center of the playing area as the "draw stack", then turns the first card up and sets it down to create the "discard stack".

4. The goal of the game is for each player to discard as many cards as possible before the other players can. To discard a particular card, it must match the current card at the top of the discard stack either by suit or by number (or "Skip", "Reverse" or "Draw Two"). A "Wild" card can be played at any time to change current suit color. A "Wild Draw Four" card can only be played when the player has no cards matching the current suit color. If the player has no matching cards, he/she must take a new card from the draw stack.

5. When a "Skip" card is played, the next player loses his/her turn. When a "Reverse" card is played, player direction is reversed. When a "Draw Two" card is played, the next player must take two cards from the draw stack and lose his/her turn. When a "Wild Draw Four" card is played, the next player has to take four new cards and loses his/her turn.

6. If a player has only one card remaining, he/she must call out "Uno" to let the other players know. Otherwise, he/she runs the risk of having to take two new cards from the draw stack if another players catcher her/him with only one card.

7. The first player to discard all of his/her cards is the winning player of the hand. The point values of all the remaining cards that the other players have are summed together and become part of the winning player's overall score.8. The first player to reach 500 points wins the game.
Uno is a fun game that both children and adults can enjoy for hours. Overall, I rate Uno with 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it to everyone.

On the Road to Settlement
The game rules and almanac booklet sets out four pages of guidelines for getting started. Don't worry, the rules are straightforward and the four pages include plenty of illustrations. You'll have to pop the die-cut components of the game out of their cardboard holders before you play your first game.

Exploring and Developing Catan
The board consists of 19 terrain hexes surrounded by the ocean. Each type of terrain produces a different type of resource: brick, wool, ore, grain or lumber. There's also a desert hex that produces no resources. As the game progresses, players use resources to build roads along the edges of these hexes and settlements or cities on the intersections where three hexes meet. Each player begins the game with two settlements and two roads.

Each player's roll of the dice causes certain hexes to produce resources, which you collect if you have a settlement on one of them. On your turn, you'll use various combinations of the resources you've acquired to build new roads and settlements, upgrade settlements to cities, or purchase development cards. The ability to trade resources with other players adds a new level of strategy and ensures that the game includes lots of interaction between players. You can also trade without worrying about other players using an unfavorable maritime trade rate. Elements including a robber piece that lets you steal from other players and a variety of development cards add intrigue to the game.

The objective of The Settlers of Catan is to be the first one who collects 10 victory points. Each settlement is worth one victory point and each city is worth two victory points. My son, learning of Bingo at his grandmother's senior housing apartment complex, loves it. He had always wanted to be the one calling out the numbers and he now is.

The wheel works great and nicely dispences one numberered sphere at a time;

Some of the sphere markings make it difficult to actually read the letter and number. Fortunately, one can easily deduce whatever is missing;

Large wooden block with concave spots for the spheres is nice.

Just as the Signature Edition has the traditional, "old," look to it, some of the numbers on the cards are off-set and difficult to read.

Also, I was surprised that a new set like this had windows that were difficult to slide open and closed.

I have a daycare with young children and they were thrilled to get this game. The food pictures are recognizable to the kids. This game is really great and I highly recommend it. My 3-yr old girl and my 7-yr old boy both really enjoy it. Even though my daughter doesn't know all the characters, she can search by color and match the pictures on her bingo card to the pictures on the screen. Because it's random anyone can win which, of course, the kids love. This is also great for grandparents who know nothing about Nickelodeon characters and want a fun, low-key game to play. Spongebob does a little video tutorial in the beginning, so there are no difficult instructions to understand. That also means it takes just a couple of minutes before you're actually playing. There are little montages throughout (like 2-min. shorts) featuring various characters to keep their attention. We can and will play this again and again. They should come up with a version with magnetized chips so we can play in the car!

Believe it or not, this one is even better than the original Tonka Mighty Dump Truck. I had already bought my kids one of the classic Tonka Mighty Dump Trucks like I had as a boy. (The youngest was tearing around with it in the sand box, across the drive, everywhere, basically like I had.) I didn't intend to buy this new bigger one, I was just going to buy the Road Grader and Quarry Truck Pack. By a stroke of fortune the store was giving that pack away with this new Toughest Mighty Truck for about the same price, so I figured, "Wow, free truck!" and plopped it in the cart. Turns out that it would have been well worth it regardless.

I had seen this newer monster sized version, but wasn't sure what to make of it. This one is well thought out, and Tonka really did improve on the existing design. The larger, wider size makes it even better for little ones to push around as fast as their legs will go. It has fewer angled corners so wipeouts are less likely to draw blood/raise a lump than the older ones. The new handle at the top of the dump is great for dragging in and out of the sand box, storage box, etc. The open cab works better for some construction action figures (if you can find them.) Fits great in a 6'x6' sandbox and would do well in a 4'x4'. On top of the functionality, in ways it looks more like the newer more massive real life loaders in service now.

The only potential negative is that it is so large that it is probably overwhelming in small sandboxes. This also means that even high lifting loader toys will have trouble dumping into the bed without a ramp or a bit of "air time." Hasn't slowed my little ones down yet, though.

Now, if Tonka would just bring back the old 3920 Mighty Loader...

We love this new version of an old family classic game! This game is perfect for all ages and can be played by your little ones who are just learning their colors as well, since the bingo letters are called by their number on a screen that is the color of each letter. For my daughter who is in pre-kindergarten and learning to recognition numbers she has actually surprised me in the car reading a speed limit sign which she only picked up from playing the bingo game. We love the Disney clips and love to play where we control the numbers being called. There are 2 versions on the cd where the numbers are automatically called sorta quick and then moves onto the next letter, we like the other selection where you press the next button and it only goes over that number until you decide to hit the next button again.

This is a really great classic game done right! And you gotta love a game where there is learning involved and your children enjoy playing as well as everyone else!

Great DVD Game for kids, December 27, 2006
If you own DVD games you know that they are not always great quality. I purchased this game for my 7 year old for Christmas and she loves it. It is easy for the kids to follow. It also plays by itself so you don't have to be the "controller" thru the whole game. It does not lag between numbers being called and it is easy to review numbers if the little one's forget to mark off some numbers. Overall this is a great Bingo game for the little one's.

eeBoo Picnic Game is lots of fun!
I purchased this game for my granddaughter's fourth birthday and was a bit worried it would be too young for her. It wasn't! She and I and her six-year-old sister sat down and played it -- lots of fun. They loved the red-checked picnic tablecloth that serves as the game board. The playing pieces are beautiful and the game is easy to understand and play. I think the game serves an added purpose by showing kids what a well-balanced meal looks like. I plan to buy the Tea Party game later on for another granddaughter when she's old enough.

What a fantastic game we have stumbled across! It arrived in the mail today and all three of our children were drawn to it like bees to honey! This game is such high quality it will provide lots of enjoyment, especially on rainy days when a real out-of-doors picnic is impossible. The game pieces are extremely thick and I do believe they will even stand up to our two year old! The arm of the spinner I will keep out of her reach for now as it seems to be the only breakable part in the whole box. The colors are bright and inviting and there are several various suggestions for other types of play. Excellent product. I will most definitely keep this in mind for birthday presents in future!!!

My daughter's favorite game

This tea party game was the favorite Christmas present this year. My daughter just turned 3 and loves this game. We can not go through a day without playing it several times. The table cloth is so cute and "girly". The pieces are very durable and well coated to avoid damage from a small spill. One time through the game, and my daughter had the rules down pat. (She still has some trouble with Chutes and Ladders and Candy Land etc., but picked this game up with no trouble at all.) Another great perk of the game is that my 3 year old can set the game up and pick it up all by herself!
I would highly recommend this game for any young girl, especially if she is even slightly prissy. It is so cute, even I couldn't wait to play!

We LOVE our tea party game! The real fabric tablecloth is a nice touch, and is creased deeply enough to be folded the same way when it is returned to the box. The game pieces are sturdy enough for plenty of pretend play, and the box becomes a tea tray for the remaining teatime items. Each plate, cup, sandwich, fruit, and dessert looks different from one another, so instead of skipping a turn when a child already has an item they may to trade it for a like item just to keep things interesting. The bingo game was a winner Christmas Eve. We play bingo for dollar store prizes while waiting on the opening of our Christmas gifts. This is a family tradition for us. The old bingo game was old and we needed a replacement and this was great. Thanks!

My grandson loves family games & time spent together. When he opened up the classic bingo he went nuts. He loves the idea that the entire family can play.
He wants to be the caller and has added a new spin to the bame.
The person who calls Bingo wins, but there is a second winner he adds up all the #s on everyones card and the person with the highest # also wins ( J is very bright for his age, he's 5.
You definitely get a 2 thumbs up for your toy.

Pleasantly surprised!

My kids LOVE this game. They are aged 7, 6, and 3 1/2. It's great for building attention skills, matching and is helping my kindergartener and preschooler learn numbers to 60. Every so often, a "Wild" space is called, and the players get to watch a clip from a Disney movie. It takes about 20-30 minutes to play the Blackout version of the game. I love the fact that we all can play the game together, everyone is quiet and in one place, AND having fun!!!! Anything that helps me accomplish that is priceless in my book.

I chose this as a Christmas gift for my kids (ages 2 and 4) based on the other reviews here. It really is great! Each space on the bingo board corresponds to a specific Disney Character (okay, so it is shameless marketing...). N24 is always Dumbo, O52 is always the Cheshire Cat, B4 is Belle, etc. The letters also correspond to colors, the B color is red, I is Yellow, etc. Here's what makes this work: even my two year old can play along with minimal help. She can recognize the characters on her card. She knows which column to look in because the screen is yellow if she should look in that column. Older children can also use the color coordination and later the letter coordination. Then, the game has the whole card and pattern options as the kids get older for a challenge. My kids (and I...at their age they need some help especially with the start up as it requires the use of the DVD remote to get going) really enjoy this game and request it often. Plain old bingo is certainly lackluster!

My suggestions for improvement (just in case someone from Disney reads this): MAGNETS. I would make the chips stick to the cards somehow. It's really disheartening for a little one when a card gets bumped and the chips go flying. I guess that would make it more expensive to make, but it would also make it a viable car game for DVD-equipped vehicles. Also, more clips! The wild clips are cute, but seem to repetitive.

My 5 year old grandson is autistic. Number and letter games are great for autistic children (especially since most of them are obsessed with numbers) He has loved to pull out the balls and read the numbers and put them on the master card. The cage is a little difficult to open with just hands. We now call my grandson 'Bingo Ben', as it is his favorite toy.
